Learn an assortment of skills like how to read horse body language, anatomy, how to groom, tack up, lunge, and care for a pony. This class is taught by Reina Baizman, owner and trainer at Little Creek Farm in Fulton, NY. Speak Up, Play On: Building Public Speaking Confidence Through Games
Wednesday, April 30
1:00-3:oopm
Help your kids turn speaking jitters into their superpower through fun games that build real confidence. Our workshop ditches boring scripts and stuffy rules, instead teaching kids to trust themselves, take good pauses, and find their own words naturally using games developed by Ultraspeaking (a fun public speaking company). Your children will leave knowing that great speaking isn't about memorizing perfect lines, but about showing up as themselves and enjoying the conversation.
Ages: 8-16
Cost: $10

Wet Felting Goat Milk Soap
Wednesday, April 23
1:00-3:oopm
Learn about some properties of wool, try out hand carding brushing, and experiment with wet felting by making a colorful felted bar of goat milk soap from St. Fiacres Farm in Ira, NY. We encourage parents to sign up as well!
Ages: 8-16

Cancelled: Plastic Free Seed Starting
Cancelled: Wednesday, April 16
1:00-3:oopm
Join Farmer Tess to use seed blocking techniques to start seeds for the garden without using seed trays or plastic. Learn how we use leftover wool from shearing sheep as the perfect fertilizer for our plants, why we stay away from “hot manure” for planting, and how you can start your own compost pile at home. We will use wool fertilizer pellets from Otter Lake Farm & Fiber that provide a N-P-K ratio of 9-0-2. We'll talk about what a N-P-K ratio is, what different nutrients are important for when it comes to plant growth, and test some of our soil. Students will take home newly planted seeds to care for until they are ready for the garden.
Ages: 8-16
Cost: $10 includes material

Basic Carpentry for Kids (FULL)
Wednesday, April 9 (FULL)
1:00-3:oopm
Help Farmer Derek construct a mud kitchen for the Imagination Space at Beacon Hill Farm. Students will be learning about basic hand tools (saws, phillips vs. regular screwdriver, measuring tape, speed square) through using them. Power drills and screwdrivers will be used with careful supervision. The mud kitchen will then be used in the Imagination Space for younger siblings to play at while older siblings are in classes. Please wear closed toe shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.
Ages: 8-16
Cost: $5

Pinch Pot Pottery
Wednesday, April 2 1:00-3:oopm
Use air drying clay to your own pinch pot to take home at the end of the day. Once the pots are dry, students can paint them with acrylic paint or leave plain for a beautiful, natural look. Pinch pots are a great introduction to working with clay. We encourage parents to sign up as well!
Although called simply "Pinch Pots" this class will teach much more than the ancient art of pottery. We aim to teach kids about different types of soil (clay, sand, silt) through doing a soil test analysis from soil they harvest on the farm. We will dig the soil, evaluate the different particle sizes that settle in a test jar, and determine percentages based off the data we collect (real life fractions & percentages!). After we spend a bit of time with the experiment, we will create our pinch pots from air dry clay that students can take home.
Ages: 8-16
